The XTRWELD WTLAN20093-3DP is a 2.0% lanthanated tungsten electrode designed for gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Sold in a 3-piece pack, each electrode is 3/32 inch in diameter and color-coded blue for quick identification. Lanthanated tungsten offers excellent arc starting, low burnoff, and strong arc stability across a wide range of welding applications. The 2.0% lanthanum oxide content delivers conductivity characteristics comparable to 2% thoriated tungsten, making it a practical, non-radioactive alternative for shops already dialed in on thoriated setups. These electrodes are suitable for both AC and DC negative (DC-) polarity.
These electrodes are used in GTAW applications on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other base metals. On DC negative or AC square wave power sources, they hold a sharp point well, which is critical for precise welds on steel and stainless. They can also be balled for use with AC sine wave machines. The 2.0% lanthanated grade offers superior arc start and AC performance compared to 1.5% lanthanated electrodes, making it a step up for welders who need consistent reignition and arc stability in production or field environments.
Designed for use with GTAW equipment operating on AC or DC negative polarity, including square wave and sine wave power sources. Suitable for welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and similar base metals.
Installation and electrode preparation should be performed by a qualified welder or welding technician. Always shut down and de-energize the welding power source before changing or grinding electrodes. Grind lanthanated tungsten longitudinally to maintain a consistent point geometry for DC applications. Follow applicable AWS and shop safety standards when handling and disposing of tungsten electrodes.
