The WRIGHT TOOL 4828 is a 1/2 inch drive, 6-point standard impact socket sized at 7/8 inch, built from alloy steel with a black oxide finish. It is engineered to handle the repeated high-torque loads generated by pneumatic and electric impact guns without deforming the fastener or chipping the socket. The black oxide coating is a deliberate design choice: it visually distinguishes impact sockets from hand sockets and provides added resistance to surface wear under continuous cycling. This socket is a working-inventory staple for HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general mechanical trades who run impact tools daily.
This socket is suited for both residential and commercial service work where 7/8 inch fasteners are common, including equipment mounting hardware, flanged connections, structural fasteners, and mechanical equipment assemblies. Its standard well depth fits fasteners in open or lightly recessed locations. The 6-point contact geometry reduces the risk of rounding fastener heads compared to 12-point designs, making it the preferred configuration when working with worn or heavily torqued hardware.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard service socket for use with 1/2 inch drive impact wrenches, air rattle guns, and drive ratchets accepting 1/2 inch square drive tooling.
This socket is installed and removed by qualified trade professionals using 1/2 inch drive impact or hand tools. Always verify the fastener size matches the socket before applying impact force. Inspect the socket for cracks or deformation before each use and remove it from service if damage is found. Do not use impact sockets as substitutes for hand sockets on torque wrenches, as impact-rated tools are not calibrated for precision torque application.
