The WOODS WOODS-SD158 is a Sure-Grip taper-lock style bushing machined from cast iron for use in power transmission assemblies. It seats into a compatible sheave, sprocket, or coupling hub and locks to a shaft via a tapered bore interface, transmitting torque without requiring a separate retaining device. The bushing features a 1.625 inch bore, a 2.1875 inch outer diameter, and a body length of 1.31 inches. It is rated for up to 5,000 lbs/in torque, making it suitable for moderate- to heavy-duty drive applications in industrial and mechanical systems.
Sure-Grip bushings of this type are commonly installed in belt-drive systems, chain-drive assemblies, and direct-coupled equipment found in HVAC fan arrays, pump drives, conveyor systems, and general industrial machinery. The SD158 designation identifies the bushing bore and series, which must match the corresponding hub or sheave bore seat to ensure proper fit and torque transfer. Installation is performed by millwrights, maintenance technicians, or mechanical contractors during equipment assembly or shaft replacement service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement bushing for use with Sure-Grip compatible sheaves, sprockets, and coupling hubs sized to the SD158 bore series with a 1.625 inch bore seat.
Installation should be performed by a qualified millwright or mechanical technician. De-energize and lock out the drive system before removing or installing any bushing. Ensure the shaft and hub bore seat are clean and free of burrs before seating the bushing. Do not over-tighten or use impact tools on the bushing cap screws without reference to the hub manufacturer torque specification.
