The WIREMOLD COMPANY B-3 is a deep metal switch and receptacle box designed for surface-mounted raceway wiring systems. It ships with a connector pre-attached, allowing it to integrate directly into a raceway run without additional fittings. The box accepts standard wiring devices as well as dimmers, fan speed controls, and similar specialty devices, making it a flexible choice when the final device type is undetermined at rough-in. Electricians working on commercial tenant improvements, light industrial spaces, or renovation projects where open-wall wiring is not practical will find this box well-suited to those conditions. Each unit is finished in ivory metal construction.
This box is intended for use with surface raceway wiring systems in applications where concealed wiring is not feasible or practical. Typical install scenarios include office renovations, retail buildouts, and light commercial spaces where raceway wiring meets code requirements. The included connector simplifies the transition from the raceway run to the device box. The unit is sold in a package of 5, which suits service work and multi-outlet installations. The deep profile accommodates devices with larger bodies, such as dimmers and fan speed controls, that may not fit in standard-depth boxes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for surface-mounted metal raceway wiring systems accepting single-gang device boxes with integral connectors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify absence of voltage with a meter before beginning work. Secure the box to the raceway and mounting surface per the raceway manufacturer instructions before installing the wiring device. Do not exceed the box fill capacity as calculated per NEC Article 314.
