The WIRE 12-2-2wgnm-bspools is a 12 AWG, Type NM-B non-metallic sheathed cable with ground, sold by the foot. This cable carries four current-carrying conductors plus a bare copper ground and is rated at 600 volts with a conductor temperature rating of 90 degrees C dry. Allowable ampacity under NEC guidelines is limited to 20 amps at 60 degrees C. Conductors are solid annealed soft bare copper per ASTM B3, insulated with color-coded PVC compound and a nylon covering meeting Type THHN requirements. A 30 mil PVC outer sheath is applied over the completed assembly. The cable is lead-free and RoHS compliant.
Type NM-B cable is designed for use in normally dry residential wiring installations. Typical applications include branch circuits for outlets, lighting fixtures, and other residential electrical loads. The cable may also be fished through masonry or tile walls where it is not exposed to excessive moisture or dampness. Applications and installation requirements are governed by NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 Article 334. This product is commonly installed by licensed electricians working on residential new construction and renovation projects.
Designed for use as branch-circuit wiring in dry residential installations per NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 Article 334. Suitable for outlet circuits, lighting circuits, and general residential electrical loads where Type NM-B cable is the specified wiring method.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and all applicable local codes. Always de-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before making connections. Do not install NM-B cable in wet, damp, or continuously moist locations, in conduit exposed to sunlight, or in any application not permitted under NEC Article 334. Cable ampacity must be derated as required by the NEC when more than three current-carrying conductors are bundled together.
