The WILLIAMS COMFORT PRODUCTS 1-210-10-1-0 is a 10-inch half round bastard cut file rated at 23 teeth per inch (TPI). Half round files are double-sided hand tools: one flat face for filing flat or convex surfaces, and one curved face for filing concave surfaces, round openings, and internal contours. At bastard cut, the tooth aggressiveness sits between second cut and rough cut, making it well suited for fast material removal on metal while still leaving a workable surface finish. The file weighs approximately 0.536 pounds. HVAC technicians, plumbers, pipefitters, and electricians regularly use bastard cut files to deburr pipe ends, dress fittings, open knockouts, and clean up rough cuts on sheet metal.
This file is appropriate for general trade use across residential and light commercial jobsites. It is commonly used to deburr copper, steel, and aluminum tubing after cutting, to dress threads on conduit, to open or enlarge holes in sheet metal enclosures, and to remove burrs from pipe nipples before joining. The half round profile makes it especially useful when working around curved surfaces such as pipe saddles, fittings, and motor mounts where a flat file cannot reach.
Designed as a general-purpose hand file for use on steel, aluminum, copper, and other common trade metals encountered in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and pipefitting applications.
Hand files should always be fitted with a handle before use to prevent injury from the tang. Always file with controlled, forward strokes and lift the file on the return stroke to extend tooth life. Wear appropriate eye protection when filing metal to guard against swarf. Files are hardened tools and should never be used to pry or strike, as they are brittle and can fracture.
