The WILKINS 34-VR10XL is a vacuum relief valve designed to prevent negative pressure conditions in plumbing and hydronic systems. When system pressure drops below atmospheric, this valve opens to admit air, stopping siphoning and protecting downstream equipment. The body is constructed of brass, offering reliable corrosion resistance in potable water and general plumbing service. Sized at 3/4 inch nominal with a male NPT (MNPT) end connection, the 34-VR10XL installs directly into standard threaded fittings. It is rated for up to 200 psi working pressure and delivers a flow rate of 13 cfm, making it suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers are the primary installers of this valve type.
Vacuum relief valves are commonly installed at water heaters, storage tanks, and distribution lines where back-siphonage is a code concern. The 3/4 inch MNPT configuration fits standard pipe tapping found on most residential water heater ports and inline tee fittings. This valve is appropriate for systems operating at up to 200 psi and is typically installed at or near the top of the appliance or tank it protects. It is suitable for use in both new construction and retrofit plumbing projects where vacuum protection is required by local plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style vacuum relief valve for residential and light commercial plumbing systems using 3/4 inch MNPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before threading the valve into place. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the MNPT threads before installation. Do not over-tighten the valve body, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
