The WILKINS 34-NR3XL is a pressure reducing valve (PRV) with an integral by-pass check valve and inlet strainer, designed for residential and light commercial plumbing systems. The valve accepts inlet pressures up to 400 psi and reduces line pressure to a safe, stable downstream level. The body is cast bronze, offering corrosion resistance suited to potable water service. The 3/4 inch FNPT end connections allow direct threaded installation into standard water supply piping. Licensed plumbers typically install this valve where domestic water supply pressure exceeds safe system limits or where local code requires pressure regulation at the point of entry.
The 34-NR3XL is used in residential water service applications where high municipal supply pressure must be stepped down to protect fixtures, water heaters, and appliances. The integral by-pass check valve allows thermal expansion flow from downstream equipment such as water heaters, reducing the need for a separate check valve in many single-pass installations. The built-in strainer protects internal components from debris in the supply line. This valve is suited for cold and hot potable water systems in both new construction and retrofit service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation PRV for residential and light commercial potable water supply systems using 3/4 inch threaded pipe connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with IPC or applicable local plumbing code. Shut off the main water supply and relieve system pressure before removing any existing valve or making connections. Install the valve in the orientation indicated on the body casting, with flow direction matching the supply-to-service direction. After installation, open the supply slowly and check all threaded joints for leaks before restoring full system pressure.
