The WILKINS 1-NR3XLDUC is a pressure reducing valve designed for potable water and hydronic plumbing systems where downstream pressure must be held within a controlled range. It features an integral bypass check valve and a built-in strainer, combining three functions into a single serviceable assembly. The valve body is cast bronze, suited for residential and light commercial service. The double union end connections — FNPT on one side and Female C Union on the other — allow the valve to be removed from the line without cutting pipe. The factory-set outlet range spans 15 to 75 psi, covering most residential service pressure requirements.
This valve is used in residential and light commercial water supply systems where incoming street pressure exceeds safe working limits for fixtures, appliances, or water heaters. The integral strainer protects the valve seat from debris in the supply line. The built-in bypass check valve prevents backflow from the downstream side, making this unit suitable for installations with thermal expansion concerns. Licensed plumbers install this valve on cold water mains, typically at the service entry point or immediately downstream of the main shutoff.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation pressure reducing valve for 1 inch potable water or hydronic supply lines requiring FNPT x Female C Union double union end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code and applicable local amendments. Shut off the main water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing the valve. The double union design allows the valve cartridge to be serviced or replaced in place. Do not exceed the rated working pressure of the valve body or the connected piping system.
