The WIEGMANN WAS050SS is a stainless steel enclosure hole seal designed to close unused 1/2 inch conduit knockouts, pushbutton holes, and conduit openings in electrical enclosures. It accepts a hole size of 0.88 inches and secures quickly with a wing nut, compressing an oil-resistant gasket against the enclosure surface. The seal is rated dirttight, dusttight, oil resistant, and watertight, making it suitable for industrial and commercial environments where contaminants must be kept out of the enclosure. The grained stainless steel finish provides corrosion resistance. Electricians and panel builders install this seal when decommissioning an opening or leaving a conduit entry unused.
The WAS050SS is used on general enclosures in industrial, commercial, and light manufacturing settings. Typical applications include sealing spare pushbutton cutouts on control panels, capping unused conduit knockouts on junction boxes, and closing off extra openings on NEMA-rated enclosures. The wing nut design allows installation without tools, making it practical during panel modifications or field retrofits where speed and cleanliness matter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement seal for general electrical enclosures with 1/2 inch conduit knockouts or 0.88 inch openings.
De-energize all circuits inside the enclosure before beginning work, following applicable NEC requirements. Insert the seal through the knockout opening, seat the gasket flush against the enclosure wall, and tighten the wing nut by hand until the gasket compresses evenly. Do not overtighten, as excessive force may distort the gasket and compromise the seal rating. This work is typically performed by a licensed electrician.
