The WIDIA 5576623 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/2 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand helical geometry with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting. An AlTiN-based coating designated WP15PE provides thermal resistance and extends tool life in high-heat applications. This end mill is single-ended and is installed and operated by machinists and CNC machine operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments.
This end mill is intended for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, hard materials, and high-temperature alloys. It is a right-hand cut tool suited for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers. The 1/2 inch Weldon Flat shank provides positive drive and reduces pullout risk under heavy cutting loads. The regular-length geometry makes it well suited for standard-depth cavity milling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations across a range of workpiece materials.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, Weldon-style end mill holders, and side-lock holders compatible with a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H indicate suitability for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and hard materials respectively.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Secure the Weldon Flat shank fully into a compatible end mill holder before tightening the set screw. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing or measuring the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and reduce surface finish quality.
