The WESTLAKE PIPE FITTINGS g508 is an 8-inch SDR 35 PVC gasketed sewer 45-degree elbow, also referred to as a 1/8 bend. This fitting provides a 45-degree change in direction within gravity-flow sewer and drain systems. It is manufactured from PVC to SDR 35 standards, making it appropriate for underground sewer service applications. The gasketed connection eliminates the need for solvent cement at this joint, relying instead on an elastomeric gasket seal. Plumbers and sewer contractors install this fitting during new construction and replacement work on 8-inch mainline sewer runs. At 6.25 pounds per unit, it is manageable for single-person handling in trench conditions.
This elbow is used in residential and commercial underground gravity sewer installations where a 45-degree directional change is required on an 8-inch line. SDR 35 PVC is a standard specification for sewer pipe and fittings in municipal and private site work. The gasketed joint design allows for thermal expansion and minor angular deflection at the joint, which is common in buried applications. This fitting is suited for below-grade drainage and sewer service lines that are not subject to pressure flow conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting compatible with 8-inch SDR 35 PVC gasketed sewer pipe and fittings conforming to standard sewer fitting dimensions for gravity-flow drain and sewer systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or sewer contractors following applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for SDR 35 PVC sewer systems. Ensure the pipe ends and gasket seating surfaces are clean and free of debris before assembly; lubricate the gasket with an approved pipe lubricant prior to joining. Installed fittings in buried applications must be bedded and backfilled according to the project specifications to prevent point loading on the fitting body. Do not use this fitting in pressurized systems or above-grade drain applications where SDR 35 is not rated for service.
