The WESTINGHOUSE 626494R is a fan limit switch designed for use in forced-air heating systems. This control device serves two functions: it signals the blower to start once the heat exchanger reaches operating temperature, and it shuts the system down if temperatures exceed a safe threshold. The 626494R features a 0.5-inch diameter sensing element that inserts into the furnace plenum or heat exchanger area. Licensed HVAC technicians install this switch as part of routine furnace service or control replacement work.
This fan limit switch is suited for residential forced-air gas furnace applications where the OEM or existing switch has failed or requires replacement. It is installed in the supply air plenum, positioned to sense heat exchanger temperature and protect the heat exchanger and blower from overtemperature conditions. The 0.5-inch diameter insertion tube fits standard plenum mounting locations common in residential furnace installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fan limit switch for residential forced-air gas furnace control applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect all power to the furnace at the disconnect switch and breaker before removing the existing limit switch. The sensing element must be fully inserted to the correct depth in the plenum per the furnace manufacturer's instructions. Verify all wiring connections are secure before restoring power and cycling the system.
