The WESTINGHOUSE 626425R is a main air limit switch designed to protect gas furnaces from overheating conditions. It opens the control circuit when supply-air temperature exceeds its set point, shutting down the burner before heat exchanger damage can occur. This unit is rated at 210 degrees F and features automatic reset operation, meaning it will close again once temperatures return to a safe range. The switch uses a 3-inch insert style probe and is configured for a half-inch diameter mounting. Licensed HVAC technicians install and replace this component during routine maintenance or after a heat exchanger or airflow fault diagnosis.
This limit switch is specified for use in MGF1RA and MGF1TA series upflow and horizontal furnaces. The upflow and horizontal configurations direct heated air differently through the cabinet, and the 3-inch probe length positions the sensing element correctly within the supply-air plenum for accurate temperature measurement in either orientation. This part is appropriate for residential forced-air heating systems where accurate high-limit sensing is critical to safe furnace operation.
Designed for use on MGF1RA and MGF1TA upflow and horizontal furnaces as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and replacement of furnace limit switches should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect power to the furnace and close the gas supply valve before beginning any service work. The switch inserts into the supply-air plenum or heat exchanger panel and must be seated fully to ensure accurate sensing. Verify wiring connections are secure and confirm the furnace cycles normally through at least one full heating sequence before returning the system to service.
