The WEST PENN WIRE 60995BRD1000 is a fire-shielded, solid-conductor plenum-rated cable designed for use in air-handling spaces where building codes require low-smoke, low-flame materials. This is a 1-pair, 12 AWG solid conductor construction with an unshielded, fire-rated plenum jacket. It is built for signal and control wiring routed through plenum ceilings, raised floors, or HVAC return-air plenums. Licensed electricians and low-voltage technicians are the primary installers. The plenum rating means the jacket compound meets the smoke and flame requirements necessary for installation without conduit in air-handling spaces, as defined under NEC Article 800 and related plenum-use standards.
This cable is suited for commercial and institutional fire alarm, security, and control wiring applications where the cable path runs through or alongside HVAC air-handling ducts or open plenum return-air spaces. It is commonly pulled in new construction and retrofit commercial buildings where the architect or AHJ specifies plenum-rated conductors. The solid 12 AWG construction supports both point-to-point control runs and longer signal distribution distances where conductor resistance is a factor.
Designed as an OEM-style plenum fire-shielded solid conductor cable for commercial fire alarm, security, and low-voltage control system wiring applications requiring plenum-rated cable.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified low-voltage technician in accordance with NEC Article 800 and all applicable local codes. De-energize and verify all connected circuits are powered down before making terminations. Plenum cable must be routed only in spaces classified as air-handling plenums per the AHJ; do not substitute plenum-rated cable for riser or general-use applications in non-plenum spaces without code verification. Avoid sharp bends or kinking during pull-through to preserve conductor and jacket integrity.
