The WEST PENN WIRE 357GY1000 is a 4-conductor, 22 AWG stranded intercom wire with a gray PVC jacket, supplied on a 1000-foot reel. It is constructed with two shielded pairs and two unshielded conductors, a configuration commonly noted as 2 shielded and 2 unshielded (2S/2UN). This wire is designed for low-voltage intercom, audio, and communication signal runs in commercial and residential installations. Electricians and low-voltage technicians use this cable where a combination of shielded and unshielded pairs is required in a single jacket to reduce conduit fill and simplify termination.
This wire is suited for intercom systems, access control signal runs, and similar low-voltage communication applications. The 22 AWG stranded conductors offer flexibility during routing through walls, conduit, and cable trays. The gray PVC jacket is suitable for in-wall and in-conduit routing in both residential and light commercial environments where a durable, flexible jacketed cable is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock intercom wire for low-voltage communication and intercom system installations requiring a 4-conductor 22 AWG stranded cable with combined shielded and unshielded pairs.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or certified low-voltage technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for communication wiring. Power down or de-energize the intercom or access control system before making any terminations. Route cable away from high-voltage conductors to minimize interference on shielded signal pairs. Avoid sharp bends that could damage the PVC jacket or compromise the shielded pair integrity.
