The WEST PENN WIRE 25245BGY1000 is a 4-conductor, 16 AWG stranded, unshielded plenum-rated security cable sold in a 1000-foot reel. It is designed for low-voltage security, access control, and alarm signal applications in commercial and institutional buildings where plenum-rated wiring is required by code. The stranded conductor construction provides flexibility during pull-through installation, while the plenum jacket rating meets the smoke and flame requirements of air-handling spaces. Licensed low-voltage and security system technicians are the primary installers of this cable.
This cable is suited for plenum air-handling spaces in commercial office buildings, schools, hospitals, and similar facilities where the National Electrical Code requires CMP-rated wiring. Typical applications include intrusion detection runs, door access control wiring, fire alarm auxiliary circuits, and intercom signal distribution. The 1000-foot continuous reel length is intended for larger commercial rough-in projects where shorter packaged lengths are not practical.
Designed as a plenum-rated stranded unshielded security cable suitable for low-voltage alarm, access control, and signal circuits in commercial installations where NEC CMP cabling is required.
Installation must comply with NEC Article 760 for fire alarm circuits or Article 725 for Class 2 and Class 3 remote-control and signaling circuits, as applicable to the system type. De-energize all circuits and confirm zero voltage before terminating conductors. Use appropriately rated connectors and terminal blocks rated for 16 AWG stranded wire. In plenum spaces, do not substitute non-plenum cable regardless of conduit use unless the local AHJ has granted a specific exception.
