The WELDAS 44-7106 STEERSOtuff Leather Welding Spats are a 6-inch foot and ankle protection accessory designed for welding environments. Constructed from side split cowhide, these spats deliver heat resistance, flame resistance, and abrasion resistance during active welding operations. The shoe top cover is made from stiffened cowhide with a rounded contour that allows spatter to roll off cleanly rather than accumulate. Seams are reinforced with double T90 5-ply Kevlar stitching, and stress points are riveted for extended service life. A Velcro closure provides up to 3 inches of adjustment, making fitment practical across a range of boot sizes. Welders and fabricators working in MIG, MIG, TIG, or stick welding applications will find these spats a straightforward addition to their PPE kit.
These spats are suited for use in fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipe welding, and general maintenance welding where foot and ankle protection from weld spatter and slag is required. The 6-inch height covers the top of the boot and lower ankle, shielding laces, boot tongues, and exposed ankle skin from hot debris. The Velcro side closure allows for fast donning and doffing without removing boots, which is practical in production environments where PPE must be put on and taken off frequently.
Designed as a general-purpose welding spat suitable for use over standard work boots and welding boots in residential, commercial, and industrial welding applications.
Welding spats are donned by placing over the boot and securing the Velcro side closure before beginning welding operations. Ensure the closure is fully fastened to eliminate gaps where spatter could enter. Inspect stitching and the cowhide surface regularly for burn-through or degradation, and remove from service if structural integrity is compromised. No tools or special fitting equipment are required.
