The WEILER 98535 is a 6-inch diameter crimped wire wheel brush designed for surface preparation, deburring, blending, and cleaning on metal and fabricated workpieces. It mounts via a 5/8-inch arbor hole and runs at a maximum of 6,000 RPM. The fill material is carbon steel wire with a filament diameter in the 0.010 to 0.019 inch range, making it suited for moderate-duty cleaning and finishing work. The brush has a face width of 3/4 inch and a trim length of 1-7/16 inches. No shank is included. It is installed by metalworking professionals, welders, pipefitters, and fabricators on bench grinders or angle grinders with compatible arbor adapters.
This wheel brush is used in industrial and shop environments for weld preparation and post-weld cleanup, rust and scale removal, and surface conditioning on steel, iron, and similar ferrous materials. The crimped wire configuration provides a more flexible, moderate-pressure action compared to knotted wire brushes, making it appropriate for blending and general-purpose deburring rather than aggressive stock removal. Typical applications include pipe fabrication shops, metal fabrication facilities, and maintenance operations where controlled surface finishing is required.
Designed for use with bench grinders and angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-inch arbor spindle. No shank is included; an arbor adapter may be required depending on the tool configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive wheel mounting procedures. Always de-energize and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the brush. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 6,000 RPM rating marked on the brush before operation. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves, and should perform a ring test or visual inspection for damage before each use in accordance with ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel standards.
