The WEILER 96245 is a Type 27 coated flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on steel and stainless steel. Built around a zirconia alumina abrasive cloth with a phenolic backing, this 4.5-inch disc runs at up to 12,000 RPM on a standard 5/8-11 threaded arbor. The 40-grit coarse grade cuts fast and is well suited for weld removal and surface preparation tasks where stock removal rate matters. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians reach for this disc when working with angle grinders on structural steel, pipe, and plate.
The WEILER 96245 belongs to the Big Cat series and is intended for use on steel and stainless steel surfaces in both shop and field environments. Common applications include grinding weld beads flush, removing mill scale, and prepping surfaces before coating or welding. The threaded arbor hole attachment mounts directly to standard 5/8-11 angle grinder spindles without a separate nut or flange adapter. Its Type 27 flat profile keeps the disc flush against the workpiece for flat and contoured surface work.
Designed for use on steel and stainless steel with standard 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle.
Licensed or experienced tradespeople should inspect the disc for damage before mounting and confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum of 12,000 RPM. Power down and disconnect the grinder before installing or removing the disc. Always use the appropriate guard per ANSI B7.1 and wear face protection rated for grinding operations. Do not exceed the rated maximum RPM stamped on the disc.
