The WEILER 93648 is a crimped steel wire cup brush designed for aggressive surface preparation on metal, weld cleaning, and rust or scale removal. The brush measures 3.5 inches in diameter with a 0.014-inch wire diameter and a 7/8-inch trim length, giving it the flex and bite needed for contoured or irregular surfaces. It mounts via a threaded 5/8-11 arbor hole, making it compatible with standard angle grinders. Rated to 13,300 RPM, this brush handles high-speed applications without sacrificing control. It weighs 0.75 pounds and ships individually. Licensed tradespeople in fabrication, welding, and HVAC sheet metal work are the primary users.
The WEILER 93648 is suited for use on carbon steel, structural steel, and weld joints where surface contamination must be removed before coating, inspection, or re-welding. It performs well in both shop and field environments. Typical applications include pre-weld surface prep, post-weld spatter and slag cleanup, and paint or rust removal on structural components. The crimped wire construction delivers a more flexible, controlled cut compared to knotted wire brushes, making it appropriate for work where a smoother finish profile is acceptable after brushing.
Designed for use with angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle, which is the standard arbor size for most 4-inch to 5-inch angle grinders in trade and industrial use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with abrasive wheel safety per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before mounting or removing the brush. Verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM maximum rating of the brush before operation. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and gloves when operating wire brushes at speed.
