The WEILER 51254 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc engineered for aggressive stock removal, blending, and edge deburring on aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Measuring 4.5 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole attachment, it mounts directly to standard angle grinders without additional hardware. The disc carries a 36-grit extra coarse abrasive on cloth backing, rated to a maximum of 13,000 RPM. This combination of abrasive aggressiveness and conical disc geometry makes it well suited for fabrication shops, sheet metal work, and maintenance professionals who need fast material removal on softer alloys.
The 51254 belongs to the WEILER Tiger Aluminum series, a line developed specifically for use on aluminum and non-ferrous workpieces where ferrous contamination must be avoided. The Type 29 conical flap design increases the contact angle, concentrating abrasive pressure at the disc edge for more efficient blending along welds and contoured surfaces. Typical applications include weld blending on aluminum extrusions, deburring cut edges on non-ferrous plate, and surface prep ahead of coating or anodizing. It is installed and used by metal fabricators, welders, and maintenance machinists working in light industrial and general fabrication environments.
Designed for use on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Fits angle grinders with a 5/8-11 spindle thread accepting 4.5-inch Type 29 flap discs rated to 13,000 RPM or higher.
Installation is performed by threading the disc arbor directly onto the grinder spindle and tightening by hand per the tool manufacturer's torque guidance. Always verify the grinder's no-load RPM rating meets or does not exceed the 13,000 RPM disc rating before operation. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and grinding gloves. Do not use this disc on ferrous metals, as the Tiger Aluminum abrasive formulation is optimized for non-ferrous applications and cross-contamination can affect weld integrity.
