The WEILER 51208 is a Type 29 angled flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on steel and stainless steel. Part of the Tiger X series, it features a ceramic zirconia alumina blend abrasive bonded to cloth backing and mounted on a phenolic backing plate. At 36 grit, this disc falls in the extra coarse range, making it suited for high-stock-removal tasks. It is rated to 12,000 RPM and accepts a 7/8 inch arbor hole. The 5 inch diameter and conical Type 29 profile allow the disc to engage workpiece surfaces at an angle, concentrating cutting action for faster material removal than a flat Type 27 disc. Licensed tradespeople and skilled fabricators in metalworking and fabrication shops are the primary installers.
The WEILER 51208 is used in industrial, commercial, and trade fabrication environments where operators need to bevel edges, remove welds, or deburr steel and stainless steel parts. The Type 29 geometry is particularly effective on flat and contoured surfaces where a low grinding angle improves contact and reduces loading. Typical applications include structural steel fabrication, pipe fitting, sheet metal work, and general metal prep prior to welding or finishing. The 5 inch disc size fits standard right-angle grinders commonly found in HVAC, plumbing, and general construction trades.
Designed for use on steel and stainless steel with standard 5 inch right-angle grinders equipped with a 7/8 inch arbor. Rated applications include beveling, weld removal, and edge deburring.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with angle grinder safety practices. Always verify the grinder's no-load RPM does not exceed the 12,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Secure the arbor nut fully using the appropriate spanner wrench and inspect the disc for damage before each use. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during operation.
