The WEILER 50824 is a 7-inch Type 27 flap disc designed for aggressive grinding and blending on ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. It uses a zirconia alumina abrasive at 60 grit, which delivers consistent stock removal on steel and stainless steel without loading or glazing over quickly. The disc rides on a phenolic backing plate that provides rigidity and heat resistance during sustained use. Rated at 8,600 RPM, it is engineered for use with standard 7-inch angle grinders fitted with a 7/8-inch arbor. The high-density flap construction extends working life and maintains a consistent cut rate through the disc's full service cycle. Licensed abrasive technicians and metal fabricators are the primary installers and users of this product.
This flap disc is suited for weld blending, surface conditioning, and rust or scale removal on structural steel, fabricated assemblies, and stainless steel components. The Type 27 flat profile is appropriate for work on flat surfaces and slight contours where a low grinding angle is maintained. It fits into production fab shops, field ironwork, and maintenance grinding applications. The 60-grit coarse cut rate makes it a practical choice when fast material removal is the priority before moving to a finer finishing step.
Designed for use with 7-inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor. Rated for material applications on steels and stainless steel per manufacturer specification.
Flap discs must be mounted and operated by personnel trained in angle grinder safety. Always verify the tool's rated RPM meets or exceeds the disc's 8,600 RPM maximum before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and confirm the arbor nut is properly torqued per the grinder manufacturer's guidelines. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during operation.
