The WEILER 50164 is a ceramic alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and hard-to-reach contoured surfaces. Part of the Tiger 3D Max Ceramic series, this Type 29 disc features a phenolic backing and a coated abrasive construction that delivers consistent, cool cutting action across the disc life. Rated at a maximum of 13000 RPM and sized at 4-1/2 inches in diameter, it mounts via a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole. The 40-plus coarse grit makes it well suited to heavy stock removal and surface prep work where speed and durability are the priority.
This disc is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, and field welding applications where a standard grinding wheel or lower-grade flap disc would wear too quickly. The Type 29 geometry angles the flap material toward the workpiece, increasing contact area on curved or irregular surfaces. Metalworkers, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance welders commonly select this disc for blending welds, removing mill scale, and prepping base material before coating or painting.
Designed for use with standard 4-1/2 inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Always verify that the grinder free speed does not exceed the 13000 RPM disc rating before use.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Thread the disc onto the 5/8-11 arbor by hand until seated, then tighten according to the grinder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate above the rated maximum RPM. Angle grinder work with abrasive discs should follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA 1910.243 guidelines for abrasive wheel machinery.
