The WEILER 09856 is a knotted wheel brush designed for aggressive surface conditioning, weld cleaning, and rust or scale removal on metal workpieces. The brush features a 5-inch outside diameter with a 0.5-inch face width and is filled with stringer bead twist knotted carbon steel wire. The knotted wire configuration concentrates filament tips for faster cutting action compared to crimped wire. Rated to 12,500 RPM, this wheel brush mounts via a threaded 5/8-11 arbor hole and is compatible with angle grinders and bench grinders equipped with a matching threaded spindle. No shank is included. Licensed tradespeople and metalworkers use this brush for weld bead cleanup, surface prep before coating, and deburring operations.
This wheel brush is suited for fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipeline welding preparation, and general metalworking applications where a threaded-arbor angle grinder or bench grinder is the primary tool. The knotted wire design is especially effective on heavy mill scale, tight weld spatter, and corrosion on ferrous metal surfaces. It is a standard consumable in welding, pipefitting, and ironwork trades where repeated surface conditioning is required between passes.
Designed for use with angle grinders or bench grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. No adapter or shank is included. Verify that the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 12,500 RPM rated maximum before mounting.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive wheel safety per ANSI B7.1 and applicable shop safety codes. Disconnect and de-energize the grinder before mounting or removing the brush. Confirm the tool spindle thread matches the 5/8-11 arbor before tightening. Always conduct a visual inspection of the brush for damaged wire or deformation before each use, and ensure the operator wears appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during operation.
