The WD-40 49008 is a mineral oil-based lubricant in a 16 oz aerosol can, formulated for rust and corrosion protection across a wide range of service applications. The aliphatic hydrocarbon and petroleum base oil composition delivers an operating temperature range of -60 degrees F to 300 degrees F, making it suitable for both cold-weather startups and high-heat equipment environments. With a maximum dielectric strength of 38,000 volts, it can be used near electrical components where incidental contact is a concern. HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general maintenance professionals keep this product on the truck for fast, on-the-spot lubrication, corrosion prevention, and adhesive removal tasks.
This lubricant is suited for residential and light commercial maintenance work where a fast-acting, aerosol-applied lubricant is needed. Common applications include freeing seized fasteners, protecting metal surfaces from rust and corrosion during seasonal equipment shutdowns, and quickly removing adhesive residue from pipe fittings, electrical enclosures, conduit, and mechanical components. The aerosol delivery format allows precise application in tight spaces typical in HVAC equipment cabinets, panel boxes, and plumbing chases. The light amber color allows visual confirmation of coverage on treated surfaces.
Designed as a general-purpose mineral oil lubricant for use on metal components in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical maintenance applications where a non-food-grade, petroleum-based aerosol lubricant is appropriate.
This product is flammable with a flash point of 138 degrees F — keep away from open flames, pilot lights, and ignition sources during and after application. Power down electrical equipment before applying near live components, even given the high dielectric strength rating. Ensure adequate ventilation when using in enclosed spaces such as mechanical rooms or equipment cabinets. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use, as the composition is subject to SARA Title III and TSCA reporting requirements.
