The WATTSTOPPER WSX-PDT-WH is a dual technology wall switch occupancy sensor with integrated relay, designed for indoor commercial and residential lighting control. It combines 100 percent passive infrared (PIR) detection with a secondary sensing technology to deliver reliable occupancy detection and automatic light switching. Rated for 120/277 VAC at 50/60 Hz, it handles loads up to 800 W at 120 VAC or 1200 W at 277 VAC for incandescent and fluorescent fixtures, plus 1/4 HP motor loads. A licensed electrician installs this device as a direct wall switch replacement in standard single-gang boxes.
This sensor is suited for small-to-medium indoor spaces such as private offices, conference rooms, break rooms, restrooms, and storage areas. The PIR element covers small motion to 20 feet and large motion to 36 feet, making it effective in rooms where occupants may be relatively stationary. The built-in photocell prevents the lights from energizing when sufficient daylight is already present, reducing unnecessary switching cycles. Time delay is field-adjustable from 30 seconds to 30 minutes without removing the cover plate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation wall switch occupancy sensor for standard single-gang indoor electrical boxes wired at 120 VAC or 277 VAC serving incandescent, fluorescent, or motor loads.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. Turn off branch circuit power at the breaker panel and verify absence of voltage before removing the existing switch or beginning wiring. The self-grounding strap requires a grounded metallic box or a separate ground wire connection per code. Do not install in wet or damp locations; this device is rated for indoor use only within an operating temperature range of 14 to 122 degrees F.
