The WATTSTOPPER 98268430240 is a lead-free brass dielectric union fitting sized at 2 inches nominal. It is designed to prevent galvanic corrosion at the joint between dissimilar metals in piping systems by electrically isolating the connected pipe sections. The fitting features FNPT x Solder end connections, a 3-1/2 inch hex body, and an overall length of 3 inches. Rated to 250 psi and 180 degrees F, it meets the pressure and temperature demands of most residential and light commercial hot water and steam applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters handle installation as part of water heater, boiler, and storage tank service work.
This dielectric union is suited for hot water storage tanks, water heaters, air conditioners, processing tanks, and steam, gas, and water piping systems. The FNPT x Solder configuration accommodates copper tubing on one side and female threaded pipe on the other, making it a versatile transition fitting. Its lead-free brass construction satisfies potable water compliance requirements where applicable. This is part of the Watts LF3001A series, a recognized product line in commercial and residential plumbing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation dielectric union for hot water storage tanks, water and air conditioners, processing tanks, and steam, gas, and water piping systems requiring a 2-inch nominal FNPT x Solder dielectric connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before beginning any work. The solder end requires proper flux application and soldering technique on cleaned copper tubing; do not apply heat after the dielectric insulator is fully assembled. Use a backup wrench on the hex body when threading the FNPT side to avoid stressing the isolation sleeve inside the fitting.
