The WATTSTOPPER 98268430219 is a lead-free brass dielectric union sized at 1 inch nominal, designed to isolate dissimilar metals in piping systems and prevent galvanic corrosion. It connects using a female NPT thread on one end and a solder connection on the other, making it a common choice where copper tubing meets threaded iron or steel pipe. Rated to 250 psi and 180 degrees F, this fitting handles the thermal and pressure demands found in hot water, steam, and gas piping installations. A 2-7/8-inch hex provides a solid grip for installation with standard wrenches. The lead-free brass construction meets current potable water standards.
This dielectric union is suited for residential and commercial plumbing installations where copper and ferrous piping systems meet. Typical applications include hot water storage tanks, water heaters, air conditioning equipment, processing tanks, and steam, gas, and water piping runs. The FNPT x solder end configuration is well matched to copper supply lines transitioning into threaded iron or steel fittings. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in both new construction and retrofit service work. The LF3001A series designation applies to this fitting.
Designed for use with hot water storage tanks, water and air conditioners, processing tanks, and steam, gas, and water piping systems where a 1-inch FNPT x solder dielectric union connection is required. Series LF3001A.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any union fitting. Solder the copper-side connection before making up the threaded joint, and allow all solder joints to cool fully before applying thread sealant and tightening the union nut. Do not over-tighten the union nut, as this can damage the internal dielectric sleeve that provides the galvanic isolation.
