The WATTS LF009M2-QT-S-FS 1-1/4 is a lead free copper silicon alloy reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly designed for continuous pressure piping systems. It protects potable water supplies against both backpressure and backsiphonage at cross-connections classified as health hazards, including service line entrances. The assembly operates at up to 175 psi and handles fluid temperatures up to 180 degrees F. It includes two in-line independent check valves, an internal relief valve, captured springs, replaceable check seats, a Y-strainer, and a built-in flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology that detects excessive relief valve discharge and can integrate with building or irrigation management systems via an optional activation kit sold separately.
This assembly is suited for residential and commercial potable water installations where local water authority requirements or national plumbing codes mandate RPZ-level protection. It is particularly appropriate at cross-connections identified as high-hazard points. The compact modular design supports in-line maintenance through a single access cover, reducing downtime during service calls. Quarter turn ball valve shutoffs with tee handles on both inlet and outlet allow for quick isolation. The flood sensor connectivity makes it a practical choice for installations where remote monitoring or alert integration is required.
Designed as an OEM-style reduced pressure zone backflow preventer in the WATTS LF009 Series for continuous pressure potable water piping applications with 1-1/4 inch female NPT threaded connections. Flood sensor alert functionality requires purchase of a compatible activation kit for connection to existing building or irrigation management systems; activation kit sold separately.
Installation of reduced pressure zone assemblies must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes, water authority requirements, and ASSE standards. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before installing or servicing the assembly. The assembly must be installed in the correct flow direction as indicated on the body and should be positioned to allow access to the test cocks for required annual backflow testing by a certified tester. Do not install in a location where the relief valve discharge port could become submerged.
