The WATTS 220085 is a 3-inch wye-pattern cast iron strainer rated for 250 PSI service on IPS (Iron Pipe Size) piping systems. It is designed to capture debris and particulate from liquid flow, protecting downstream equipment such as valves, meters, and pumps. The body is constructed of cast iron and includes a 3/64-inch mesh screen that filters fine particles while maintaining acceptable flow rates. A 1-1/4-inch FPT blowdown port is integrated into the strainer body, allowing the screen to be cleaned or blown down without removing the unit from the line. At 35.20 pounds, this is a heavy-duty commercial and industrial-grade component installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters.
This strainer is suited for commercial and industrial plumbing, heating, and process piping systems where a 3-inch IPS main line requires inline filtration. Typical applications include boiler system supply lines, chilled water distribution, process water loops, and other pressurized liquid systems where protecting control valves and heat exchangers from debris is required. It is intended for professional installation in systems operating at pressures up to 250 PSI.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation wye strainer for 3-inch IPS commercial and industrial liquid piping systems rated to 250 PSI.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Isolate and depressurize the line completely before installation or any service on the blowdown port. The wye strainer should be installed with the screen pocket oriented downward or as specified by the system designer to ensure proper debris collection and effective blowdown. Do not exceed the rated 250 PSI working pressure for this fitting.
