The WATSON MCDANIEL wfpv-12-n is a freeze protection valve designed to prevent damage to piping systems, equipment, and components in environments exposed to freezing temperatures. The valve automatically vents or drains fluid when ambient conditions drop to the freeze threshold, protecting the system without manual intervention. Rated to 200 psi maximum operating pressure and 300 degrees F maximum operating temperature, it handles a wide range of service conditions. At 0.9 pounds and with a 1/2-inch NPT connection, it installs directly into existing piping with standard fittings. Licensed plumbers, mechanical contractors, and fire protection technicians are the primary installers.
The wfpv-12-n is suited for residential and commercial applications where freeze protection is required on exposed or minimally insulated piping. Typical installations include pipes, valves, fittings, pumps, condensate systems, safety showers, fire lines, spray nozzles, freeze-sensitive equipment, and as backup protection on steam tracing lines. The 1/2-inch NPT connection makes it compatible with standard threaded piping configurations commonly found in mechanical rooms, rooftop systems, and outdoor installations.
Designed as an OEM-style freeze protection solution for threaded piping systems requiring 1/2-inch NPT connections with operating conditions within 200 psi and 300 degrees F.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor. Shut off system pressure and drain the affected line before installing or removing the valve. Apply thread sealant appropriate for the service fluid and pressure rating in accordance with IPC guidelines. Do not exceed the rated maximum operating pressure of 200 psi or maximum temperature of 300 degrees F during installation or service.
