The WARWICK HANGER 1551-10 is a galvanized carbon steel pipe insulation shield designed to protect pipe insulation at hanger support points. Rated for use with foam, fiberglass, and high-density insulation, this shield prevents crushing and damage where pipe hangers contact the insulation jacket. It features an inner diameter of 10-3/4 inches, a shield length of 10 inches, and is formed from 18-gauge carbon steel with a galvanized finish for corrosion resistance. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install these shields during new construction and retrofit work on insulated piping systems.
This shield is suited for 10-inch pipe installations in commercial and industrial mechanical rooms, as well as in residential and light-commercial plumbing and HVAC piping systems where insulated lines run through hanger support assemblies. It is appropriate for chilled water lines, hot water supply, and other insulated pipe runs where maintaining insulation integrity at support points is required by specification or code. Each order includes 25 shields.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulation shield for 10-inch pipe hangers used with foam, fiberglass, or high-density insulation jackets in commercial and industrial piping applications.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or mechanical contractors as part of an insulated piping system assembly. The shield is placed around the insulation prior to seating the pipe in the hanger, ensuring the hanger bears on the steel shield rather than directly on the insulation. Follow applicable mechanical codes and project specifications regarding hanger spacing and shield requirements for insulated piping. No special tools are required for placement, but care should be taken to position the shield centered on the hanger bearing point.
