The WALTER-TITEX 8221622 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. It measures 5.00 mm in diameter with an overall length of 66.00 mm and a shank diameter of 6.00 mm. The bit features a 180-degree flat-bottom point geometry and a multi-layer TiSiAlCrN and AlTiN proprietary coating that extends tool life and supports elevated cutting temperatures. Coolant-through capability allows for effective chip evacuation and thermal management at the cutting zone. Flute length is 20.00 mm with a maximum drilling depth of 13.50 mm.
This drill bit is suited for precision drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The whistle notch shank provides secure tool holding in compatible chucks and collet systems. Its screw machine length profile makes it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses where rigidity and short overhang are required. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled chip flow in short-depth through and blind-hole operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users.
Designed for use in toolholders and chucks accepting a 6.00 mm whistle notch shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify that the toolholder accommodates a 6.00 mm whistle notch shank and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut. Activate coolant-through supply prior to starting the spindle to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
