The WALTER-TITEX 6968781 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from solid carbide with a TiNAl (titanium aluminum nitride) tip coating, this bit delivers superior hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. It features a 140-degree split point, a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 8 millimeters in diameter, and an overall length of 79 millimeters (3.11 inches). The two-flute right-hand cut geometry and coolant-through design make it suitable for production drilling where tool life and hole quality matter. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This drill bit is designed for use on cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The screw machine length (stub) format provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for short-hole drilling in machining centers, drill presses, and manual or CNC lathes. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in interrupted or continuous cuts. The Series DC150-03-A1 designation places this bit within WALTER-TITEX universal performance tooling, appropriate for general-purpose and precision production work across a range of workpiece materials.
Designed for use in drill presses, machining centers, and CNC equipment accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Fits within the DC150-03-A1 series, covering the 6.50 mm to 8.00 mm diameter range per the series specification.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and speeds-and-feeds selection. Confirm the spindle and chuck are fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or changing the bit. Verify shank seating depth and runout with appropriate gauging before beginning a cut. When using the coolant-through feature, ensure the machine coolant system is properly pressurized and connected per the equipment manufacturer's guidelines.
