Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating, this bit delivers superior wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. It features a 140-degree drill point angle for accurate entry and reduced thrust, a two-flute spiral configuration, and a whistle notch shank for secure tool holding. The overall length is 2.913 inches (74 mm), with a cutting flute length of 0.865 inches. It is part of the WALTER-TITEX DC150 series and is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators.
This drill bit is engineered for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. It supports blind hole drilling and stack drilling applications, making it applicable across CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations where consistent hole quality is required. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability make it well suited for deeper blind holes where chip evacuation and heat management are critical concerns.
The DC150 series is designed for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering primary workpiece material codes K, N, P, and S. Suitable for CNC and manual drilling setups that accept a whistle notch shank with a 0.236-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling procedures. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet are fully de-energized and brought to a complete stop before changing tooling. Carbide drill bits are brittle and should not be subjected to side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed adjustments, or drops on hard surfaces. Verify coolant-through connections are active before engaging the cut when using the internal coolant feature.
