The WALTER-TITEX 6618073 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. Built from solid carbide with a TiNAl coating, it delivers heat resistance and wear life well beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. At 3 inches overall length with a 0.495-inch flute length, this stub-length geometry provides rigidity and minimizes deflection in short-reach drilling applications. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automatic screw machine setups where consistent hole quality and tool life matter.
This drill bit is intended for metalworking applications in both job shop and production environments. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, making it a practical choice for automotive, aerospace, and general mechanical fabrication work. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.236 inches diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. The DC150-03-A0 series is built to DIN and ISO standards, and the 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in short-depth holes up to 0.495 inches deep.
Designed for use in steel and cast iron workpieces; compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.236-inch straight shank. Fits CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and screw machine setups requiring a 4.20 mm (0.1650 inch) hole diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing or inspecting tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excess runout accelerates carbide wear and can cause breakage. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external flood or mist coolant is recommended when drilling steel at higher feed and speed rates.
