The WALTER-TITEX 5153712 is a single-ended spotting drill designed to create accurate starting points for twist drills, reamers, and other rotary cutting tools. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool features a 90-degree point angle and a 6 mm cutting diameter that produces clean, consistent drill seats on a wide range of workpiece materials. With an overall length of 2.6 inches and a spiral, two-flute design, it delivers reliable chip evacuation and centerline accuracy in general-purpose machining operations. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users of this type of drill.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose spotting and center-marking operations in machine shop environments, job shops, and production cells. The 90-degree point angle is compatible with the most common drill point geometry, reducing walking and improving hole location accuracy before the finish drill enters the workpiece. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and toolholders sized for 6 mm shanks. It is intended for right-hand cutting operations on mills, drill presses, and machining centers.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for right-hand cutting operations on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tools and machine tool operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in the toolholder before beginning any setup. Verify runout with an indicator after tool installation to confirm proper seating. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection appropriate to the workpiece material.
