The WALTER-TITEX 5062909 is a cobalt micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials at small diameters. Built to DIN 1899 standards, it features a 0.75 mm (0.0295 inch) diameter with a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank and a 118-degree standard point angle. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces entry force at small diameters, which is critical when working in titanium alloys and other difficult-to-machine materials. The bright/uncoated cobalt construction provides heat resistance without added coating thickness, keeping tolerances tight. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators working in production and repair environments.
The 5062909 is suited for blind hole, through hole, and stack drilling applications. Its 4.80 mm flute length and 3.60 mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for shallow-penetration work in thin stock or layered assemblies. Primary workpiece materials include titanium alloys and other materials in the K, N, P, and S material groups. Secondary applications cover glass and graphite (M and O material groups). The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support chip evacuation in these materials without requiring coolant-through capability.
Designed for use in blind hole, through hole, and stack drilling operations on titanium alloys (K, N, P, S material groups) and secondary materials including glass and graphite (M, O material groups) per Series A3143 application guidelines.
Micro drill bits at this diameter require a precision collet or chuck capable of holding a 1.00 mm shank without runout. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured before starting the spindle. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification before use, as micro-diameter cobalt bits are susceptible to chipping if dropped or improperly stored. Operate at appropriate spindle speeds for the workpiece material and diameter to avoid premature breakage.
