The WALTER-TITEX 5062893 is a cobalt micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking and fabrication applications. Built to DIN 1899 standards, this bit features a 0.59 mm diameter (0.0232 inches decimal equivalent), an 118-degree standard point angle, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation in small-diameter work. The M35 cobalt material grade gives the cutting edges added heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel. A straight-cylindrical shank measuring 1.00 mm diameter seats securely in collet-style micro drill chucks. Licensed machinists, precision tool-and-die technicians, and aerospace fabricators are the primary installers.
This micro drill bit is suited for blind hole, stack drilling, and through hole drilling operations in tight-tolerance environments. Its primary workpiece material rating covers titanium alloys as well as cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and other general-purpose metals. Secondary rated materials include glass and graphite. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 3.90 mm flute length are sized for the shallow maximum drilling depth of 3.00 mm (0.1000 inches), keeping the bit rigid and minimizing deflection at this diameter. The bright/uncoated finish is suited for applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern.
Rated for use in titanium alloy, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, general steels, glass, and graphite workpieces per material codes K, N, P, S, M, and O. Part of the WALTER-TITEX Series A3143 micro drill line built to DIN 1899.
Micro drill bits at this diameter require a high-speed precision spindle or CNC machining center with minimal runout to prevent bit breakage. Always secure the shank fully in a matched collet or micro drill chuck before operation and verify chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Reduce feed rate and spindle speed incrementally when first establishing the cut, particularly in stack drilling configurations. Do not apply manual side force to the bit during operation as deflection at 0.59 mm diameter will cause immediate breakage.
