The WALTER-TITEX 5062649 is an extra length, two-flute high speed steel (HSS) drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling in demanding production and maintenance environments. It measures 0.2813 inches (Letter size K) in cutting diameter with an overall length of 8-27/32 inches and a flute length of 6-3/32 inches, giving it a flute-to-diameter ratio of 16xD for reaching blind holes that standard-length bits cannot access. The straight-cylindrical shank diameter is 0.2810 inches with a shank length of 2.756 inches. A 130-degree split point with web thinning and parabolic flute geometry promotes aggressive chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and the need for peck drilling cycles in deep-hole applications.
This bit is suited for stack drilling and blind-hole operations in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, as well as secondary use in cobalt, iron, nickel, and titanium alloys. It carries a high-performance grade designation and conforms to ANSI, DIN 1869-I, and ISO standards, making it appropriate for aerospace, heavy fabrication, machine shops, and industrial maintenance settings where consistent hole quality and depth capability are required. The uncoated HSS construction allows easy resharpening in shops equipped for drill grinding.
Designed for use in blind-hole and stack-drilling operations on primary workpiece materials including steel (P), cast iron (K), and non-ferrous metals (N), with secondary suitability for cobalt, iron, nickel, and titanium alloys (M, O, S). Straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.2810 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists and tool-and-die or maintenance technicians using standard drill press, milling machine, or CNC machining center setups. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a chuck or collet to the full shank engagement length before drilling to minimize runout and deflection. Power down and lock out all machinery before changing or inspecting the bit. The uncoated HSS construction is compatible with water-soluble and straight-oil cutting fluids; coolant-through is not supported on this bit.
