The WALTER-TITEX 5062557 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications in metalworking environments. It features a 0.0866-inch (2.20 mm) diameter with a parabolic flute geometry and a 130-degree drill point angle, making it well suited for efficient chip evacuation and accurate entry in blind hole and stack drilling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce thrust requirements and improve cutting performance. The bit is uncoated M2 high-speed steel, ground to a tight diameter tolerance of -0.00055 to 0.00000 inches. Licensed trades and precision machining shops rely on this geometry for demanding ferrous and non-ferrous applications.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as primary workpiece materials, and is also suitable for secondary materials including cobalt, iron, nickel, and titanium alloys. The Series A1622 designation follows DIN 1869-I and ANSI and ISO standards, placing it in the extra length category with a flute-to-diameter ratio of 16xD. Typical applications include blind hole drilling and stack drilling in production machining, tool rooms, and maintenance environments where standard-length bits cannot reach.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use extra length drill bit for applications conforming to DIN 1869-I Series A1622 specifications in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 2.20 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists and tool room technicians using standard drill chucks or precision collet holders rated for the 2.20 mm shank diameter. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the spindle is properly aligned before engaging the bit to prevent deflection at this small diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant recommended for the workpiece material, as this bit does not feature through-coolant capability. Inspect the bit for chipping or wear at the point and flute edges before each use.
