The WALTER-TITEX 5060617 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for demanding metal cutting applications. With a 7.2 mm (0.2835 inch) diameter and a 130-degree split point, this bit starts on contact without walking and cuts cleanly through hard workpiece materials. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup during deep-hole operations. An oxide coating provides added surface hardness and lubricity. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit is intended for professional machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians working with high-hardness or abrasion-resistant base materials.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, superalloys, and titanium. The parabolic flute design with a 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports both blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations where chip packing and heat are common concerns. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust force required at the cutting edge, which is especially useful when drilling through stainless steel or titanium. This bit complies with ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards and carries a high-performance grade designation under Series A1247.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet tool holders accepting a 0.2835-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces as specified by WALTER-TITEX for Series A1247. Compliant with ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and chip-load management for cobalt tooling. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the drill chuck or collet is fully tightened before operation. Coolant-through capability is not available on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges and web before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
