The WALTER-TITEX 5060590 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to the A1247 series specification, it features a 4.8 mm (0.189 inch) diameter with a parabolic flute geometry and a 130-degree split point. The oxide coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during extended cutting cycles. With a straight-cylindrical shank and web-thinned, tapered web construction, this bit delivers consistent entry and chip evacuation in blind-hole and stack-drilling applications. It is typically installed by machinists, tool and die specialists, and maintenance professionals working in metal fabrication environments.
This drill bit is suited for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, superalloys, and titanium. The parabolic flute design supports efficient chip removal at higher feed rates, reducing heat buildup in difficult-to-machine materials. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio allows for deeper drilling relative to diameter, making it appropriate for production environments where consistent hole quality is required. Blind-hole and stack-drilling applications are specifically supported by the split-point geometry and web thinning.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style jobber-length drill bit for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets compatible with 0.189 inch shank diameter tooling. Conforms to ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards per series A1247 specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with metal-cutting operations. Secure the shank fully in a compatible drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 44 mm (1.732 inches) for this bit diameter and flute configuration.
