The WALTER-TITEX 5060557 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to Series A1247 specifications, it features a 2.5 mm diameter (0.0984 inches), a 130-degree split point, and a parabolic flute geometry that evacuates chips efficiently in deep-hole applications. The oxide coating provides surface hardness and heat resistance. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.1875-inch flute length, this bit is sized for precision work in confined or stacked setups. It is suited for machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance techs drilling in hard or abrasive stock.
This drill bit is rated for cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, superalloys, and titanium. The parabolic flute with web thinning supports blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations where chip clearance and point accuracy are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank (0.0984 inches diameter) seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Maximum drilling depth is 1.024 inches (26.00 mm). The tapered web and split point geometry reduce thrust and walking at entry, making this bit effective for tight-tolerance hole locations without center-punching on stable setups.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.0984-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, superalloys, and titanium per Series A1247 application ratings.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a compatible drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill with appropriate chuck capacity. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling into final workpieces. Power down and de-energize all equipment before changing bits. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 1.024 inches without retracting to clear chips, particularly in blind hole applications.
