The WALTER-TITEX 5060508 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 9 (0.1960 inches diameter), designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It features a 130-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing the need for a center punch. The parabolic flute geometry accelerates chip evacuation, lowering heat buildup and extending tool life in tough materials. With an overall length of 3-3/8 inches and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 8xD, this bit handles drilling depths up to 1.7320 inches. Licensed tradespeople and production machinists install this type of tooling on standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills alike.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, superalloys, and titanium. The oxide coating improves lubricity and wear resistance at elevated temperatures, making it appropriate for production runs and intermittent shop work where tool longevity matters. It carries ANSI and ISO standards compliance along with BS and DIN specification designations, confirming dimensional and performance consistency across applications.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or equivalent for jobber-length cobalt drill bits in wire gauge size 9 used in drill press, CNC, and hand-drill setups working cast iron, stainless steel, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Cobalt drill bits of this type are installed and changed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Always secure the bit firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet and confirm runout before drilling. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, titanium, or superalloys to manage heat even though this bit does not support through-coolant flow.
