The WALTER-TITEX 5060500 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Sized at wire gauge 56 (0.0465 inches in decimal), it features a 130-degree split point for accurate self-starting and reduced thrust. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, which is critical when drilling cast iron, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. With an overall length of 1.5 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard drill chucks without adapters. It carries an oxide coating for lubricity and surface protection. Licensed HVAC technicians, machinists, and metalworking tradespeople rely on this geometry for tight-tolerance blind-hole and stack-drilling applications.
This bit is rated for blind hole and stack drilling operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, superalloys, and titanium. The Series A1247 designation places it within a high-performance cobalt line engineered to ISO and ANSI standards. It is well suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality in hard or abrasive materials are primary concerns. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction reduces cutting forces at the tip, making it effective in materials that work-harden quickly, such as stainless steel and titanium-based alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-specification drill bit for applications requiring wire gauge 56 drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including cast iron, stainless steel, steels, superalloys, and titanium. Conforms to ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN specification designations. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.0465-inch shank diameter.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, or trade technicians using a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld power drill with an appropriate chuck. Before changing bits, ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle has stopped completely. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during entry, especially in stack-drilling setups. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this bit; use an external cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to manage heat and extend tool life.
