The WALTER-TITEX 5059405 is a jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This size 60 wire gauge bit measures 0.0400 inches in diameter with an overall length of 34 millimeters (approximately 1.34 inches). It is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a parabolic flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The 130-degree split point angle is web-thinned to reduce entry force and improve centering accuracy. A straight-cylindrical shank provides secure chuck engagement. This bit is suited for use in machine shop, maintenance, and fabrication environments where tight-tolerance small-diameter drilling is required.
This drill bit is rated for blind hole and stack drilling applications. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, making it a versatile option across general machining operations. The parabolic flute design with an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper cuts relative to bit diameter. Maximum drilling depth is 0.394 inches (10 millimeters). It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards as well as BS and DIN specification designations, making it suitable for shops working to international tolerances. The Series A1222 designation identifies this as a high-performance grade within the WALTER-TITEX product line.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machines, drill presses, and hand-held power tools accepting a 0.0400-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpieces classified under material codes K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous metal), and P (steel).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation to prevent runout. At 0.0400 inches in diameter, this bit is susceptible to breakage if feed rate, spindle speed, or lateral pressure is not controlled appropriately for the workpiece material. Coolant-through is not supported; ensure adequate surface or flood cooling is applied externally when drilling at depth in harder materials.
