The WALTER-TITEX 5059346 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to Letter X (0.3970 inches decimal), designed for general-purpose hole-making in a production or maintenance environment. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide coating, the bit features a parabolic flute geometry and a web-thinned, tapered-web design that reduces cutting resistance and improves chip evacuation. The 130-degree drill point angle is suited for harder workpiece materials and minimizes walking at entry. Overall length is 5.25 inches with a flute length of 3.4375 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 2.795 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank (0.3970 inches diameter) fits standard drill chucks. Tool professionals and machinists use this bit in both manual and CNC drilling applications.
The 5059346 is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its parabolic flute and web-thinned point make it well suited for blind-hole drilling and stack drilling operations where chip clearance and point stability matter. The bit carries ANSI and ISO standards compliance along with BS and DIN specification designations, making it appropriate for shops that work to international tolerances. The Series A1222 designation places it within WALTER-TITEX high-performance jobber tooling. Right-hand cut orientation is standard.
Designed for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and steel workpieces. Suitable for blind-hole and stack drilling applications. Straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard keyed and keyless drill chucks accepting a 0.3970-inch shank diameter.
This bit is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in drill press, lathe tailstock, and CNC machining center setups. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operating and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the tolerance class. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling steel or cast iron at depth. Inspect the cutting edge and web condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
